On a 16 shaft Louet Magado loom, in what was formerly a weaving workshop for the Haslemere Peasant Industries dating from the 19th century, Sarah Tyssen weaves her beautiful blanket designs – designs, which are wonderfully reminiscent of designs from the Arts & Craft era. Like a fine wine sommelier expertly pairing wine with food, Sarah artfully weaves magic into a rich muted palette with her stunning colour combinations and by blending wool fibres during the spinning process to create new depths of colour in the wool. Sarah creates designs for production in limited editions of 12-15 blankets, on power looms in Yorkshire.
After graduating from West Surrey College of Art and Design with a degree in woven textiles, Sarah worked as a designer for Morgan and Oates in Herefordshire.
